Plus 3 Wardrobe Tips to Add Variety to Your Photos

Spring is a beautiful time for senior photos. Trees are dressed in their prettiest blooms of white, pinks, and yellows. Tulips and daffodils adorn green landscapes. Temperatures are starting to warm. Most importantly, it’s time to bring out those pretty spring dresses.

That’s just what Siya did for her senior session. She wanted a mix of feminine and casual, so she chose a floral frock, and we mixed it up with a beautiful scarf, hat, and jean jacket. We found lots of blooming trees at a local park and used a bench to get different seated looks, as well. She was a natural! Her beauty (in and out) shone through.

So what if your session only includes one main look? What do you do? Here are 3 tips:

1. Bring a jean jacket. Denim jackets come in so many different styles and colors. When you throw one over a dress or t-shirt, it changes your look entirely and you give yourself different images to choose from once you get to your Reveal & Order session. What if you don’t have a jean jacket? Well, you have options. Choose a different jacket like an oversized bomber or a cropped tweed. Grab an oversized sweater or cardigan and bring that along. Your options are endless!
2. Layer with a letter jacket. Many of you have letter jackets that you rarely get to wear. Why not use them for your senior photos? Whether you’ve lettered in a sport, band, etc., it’s a great way to remember your high school activities and celebrate all the hard work you did. Even if it is for one or two photos, it’s great to give yourself options when it comes to your reveal.
3. Add flare with a hat. From cowboy to wide brim, knit beanies to bucket – you can top your outfit off and let your look ride with the season. Hats also look cool just to hold or hide behind and give you so many looks.

So what if you don’t have any of those options? You can always go shopping at your local boutique or mall, BUT you could also borrow from your friends or shop at your nearest thrift shop. While you are there, you might even see a tie, jewelry, or scarf that sets your senior photos apart (and you’ve saved money!).
