Spring Theater-Inspired Shoot with Olivia
Spring shoots are the best, and I was honored to spend some time last week with Olivia for her senior session! Olivia has spent some time in Civic Theater productions, so we designed her photo shoot with its murals in mind, along with Downtown Lafayette’s lampposts, theater lights, art, and alleys.
When I say Olivia was a natural, I mean it! The camera picked up the whole range of her smiles and made her glow. We found steps and colorful doors, metal staircases and exposed brick, plus cobblestone and empty streets! Some of my favorites are her stepping onto a Main Street crosswalk with the setting sun and street lights behind her. She did an AMAZING job!
This Class of 2023 senior had outfits that went really well with the vibe she wanted. Olivia chose a cute short-sleeved white shirt and olive green jacket with jeans for a casual look, and then to switch it up, she changed into a beautiful sage summer dress with a straw fedora and jean jacket to accentuate it. You know I love a jean jacket or hat to give variety! And that’s exactly what we had.
Olivia’s gallery is full of so many options. We had two outfits, but several different combinations with the accessories. Plus with so many great spots downtown and many different poses, she will have a lot of beautiful images to choose from. I always guide seniors to think of their gallery as a whole: wide, medium, and close-up shots, different locations, plus sitting, standing, walking, laughing, leaning, dancing, spinning, etc. You get the picture! We can do so much in an hour or two!
To end Olivia’s senior session, we timed the sunset with the Civic Theater mural. The light was fading and leaving its glow behind, making it the perfect time to get some backlit images. Olivia laughed and strutted through our final sun-soaked images, and they were so GOOD!
