Sound of West Side Seniors

I teared up watching clumps of Sound of West Side seniors walking toward me at University Farm Park this past Thursday. I’d been asked to take photos for their senior banners for a season unfortunately that had to be canceled. These West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School students have been putting in so much time and effort these past few years; they were ready to give a fantastic final marching season. Still they had smiles on their faces. Years of work and practice has made this group tight.  Despite them not having their Indiana State Fair performance, football games, and the annual March-a-Thon, a dedicated group of parents made sure they still got their senior banners. Uniforms were pulled out quickly and last minute alterations were made for growing kids, and amazingly every single one was able to be there Thursday night.

We started with individual photos, each of the fourteen seniors posing in four different spots around the park. Then we did group photos with masks and a few with masks off quickly – such a sign of the times. For a little over an hour, they rocked smiles and silly poses, and I was impressed (again!) with what great kids they are. On October 2, they will get a chance to be recognized and celebrated at their Senior Night at Gordon Straley Field — they certainly deserve it!
